Tricia Reust is a vibrant visual artist who uses colour without any limitations, letting the idea and the form take shape; and then building a narrative as part of her approach. Tricia has an infectious enthusiasm for life and the artistic process and enjoys being able to pass on the great information she has learnt over the years.
Tricia Reust was born in Sydney, NSW, Australia. She attended the Newcastle Art School for over two years, holds a Basic Art Certificate from the Art Instruction School in Minnesota, USA, and is a graduate with Distinction from the Open College of the Arts, Queensland.
Tricia represented parents in education for over twenty-five years, including serving as a board member on the Queensland Schools Curriculum Council, the Queensland Studies Authority and the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board. She was awarded the Centenary Medal for Service to Education and the Arts in 2003.
Tricia exhibits regularly in regional shows and competitions, since moving to Queensland from Michigan in 1987. She is active in the art community, co-ordinated the Redcliffe Regional Youth Art Awards with artist and friend John Robinson, 1997-2007, and was the inaugural Chair of the Scarborough Fair Arts Association Inc.
Tricia teaches, and presents workshops throughout Australia and overseas.
Tricia won the National Mortimore Prize in 2012; has been a finalist ten times in the Bald Archy; has been published in the Australian Artist and all four “Incite – The Best of International Mixed Media” publications. She has written “Landscape as a Story” and her three instructional DVDs are very popular.
Tricia’s memberships: Master Pastellist with the Pastel Society of Australia (PSA) Inc.; Life Member Redcliffe Art Society; Visionaries; and the Moreton Bay Arts Council.
