Wave Series #4
After a late afternoon surf, my husband and I jumped in for a swim. Getting a surf in the afternoon where we live is rare as the wind usually comes up during the day and destroys the waves -for surfing that is. We both commented on how stunning the light was. My husband Matt, who is an avid surf photographer had been taking shots of me surfing, snapped this shot. When I saw it I knew I just had to paint it. It captured the warmth and the magic that happens every evening in the surf around that time...that golden light just before it disappears. It marks the end of the day- busy days usually and signifies that it's now time to slow- time for me- time to unwind. The way the water refracts the sky colour seems almost unreal. It always takes my breath away when I notice the colours and shapes that are there right in front of me and stir my desire to show others what I see and that is why this wave is captured on canvas and I hope it gives you that same feeling or memory of that special golden time in the evening at the beach.
