Sue Currie endeavours to convey the mood of a painting whether it be peaceful, wild, foggy, or a certain time of day. To strike a chord with the place. Sue loves the sea-side and has always lived close to it, but the contrast of mountains, lakes and rivers have always captured her eye. “Living in the South Island of New Zealand makes all of this so approachable”.
Sue decided to be an artist at an early age and continued to follow her goal. Starting in graphic design in Christchurch, she then moved to Sydney, Australia where she worked for over 6 years, becoming more involved with fine art, then returning to New Zealand to paint.
Sue has travelled to many overseas countries enhancing her creativity, painting the busy life, buildings and landscapes.
Moving on from the Christchurch 2010/2011 earthquakes, Sue Currie is now living in the Lyttelton Harbour Basin, she has recently been painting the surrounding landscape of the Peninsula as well as
South Island landscapes.
Sue exhibits regularly in the South Island and has been painting since 1974. She is the recipient of numerous awards, with paintings in collections in New Zealand and overseas.
