Colour in all it’s delicious combinations inspires Kym Beaton to paint.
Kym Beaton began painting seriously in 2001 while raising a young family. This became her ‘window of sanity’ where she made sense of her world through the calming routine of applying colour to a surface. Landscapes, portraits, life drawing – it was all fodder for her brush. In 2010Kym Beaton and her family moved to Wanaka, a ski town in southern New Zealand, where the mountains, forests and lake lead her artistic expression.Kym Beaton’s specialty is portraits but she also finds inspiration in everyday life and the local community.
Kym Beaton works on canvas or paper and she uses acrylic paint, ink and soft pastels.
Her style has been described as “colourful and energetic, with effective mark making” and “bold and honest”.
Kym Beaton regularly teaches and holds weekend workshops, so if you find yourself inspired in Wanaka give Kym a call.
Kym Beaton has successfully exhibited in her hometown of Sydney, Australia as well as locally in Wanaka and Arrowtown.
