Judith Hoste is based in Umina Beach in the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
Judith has been painting since 1981 and teaching and exhibiting from 1985. Judith works in oils, watercolours, pastel and acrylics and tutors in these mediums also.
In 1981 Judith started oil painting classes at the “Noonameena” art studio in Booker Bay, with well known teacher Mrs Ethel Jamieson. After 4 years of tuition Judith was asked to teach the beginner’s class at Noonameena. That is when Judith’s teaching career took off. She was then asked to teach at the Amber Arts gallery in Umina Beach, and then purchased the business with her husband Ken, 1 year later.
Judith followed on from oils and took instruction in watercolours, then onto pastels and acrylics. She is lucky to have inherited her drawing ability from her Dad, so she can teach all mediums to the many students she has had throughout these 34 years.
In 1999 started Judith’s success receiving awards for her work. This has continued to the present day with Judith’s latest in May 2019, winning the “work on paper” section of the Central Coast regional show at Gosford, with a watercolour titled “Waterlilly Garden”.
The most outstanding of all awards was winning the Scone Art Prize in 2009, with the painting also selling.
Judith is a member of the Central Coast Art Society and became President in April 2016. She is also a member of the Central Coast Watercolour Society and the Toukley and Districts Art Society.
The Smith Family approached Judith to exhibit for them on 2 occasions, and Judith participated in the charity art exhibition for the Safari Appeal in 2001, selling all her entries.
Judith’s works are in collections around the world. They have been purchased and sent or taken to the US, UK, Belgium, NZ, South Africa, North Korea, Norway and Sweden.
Judith has been featured in the August 2016 magazine, The Creative Artist, with her art journey story and a demonstration painting.
