Jo Rankin’s love of painting began at an early age. All things creative, both in design and colour, have always been of great interest to her. Over the years Jo has worked in various creative industries, including staging and styling homes, eventually gaining her qualifications in Interior Design after completing the ‘Nanette Cameron Interior Design’ 2-year course.
Jo set up her business ‘City House Interior Design’ on Auckland’s North Shore, specializing as a consultant in color and curtains for clients throughout the Auckland area. Yet Jo still craved that need to paint, so when they moved to Kinloch in 2010, Jo realized it was the time to fulfill a craving she had longed for — to paint again.
After initially painting with watercolour and then exploring acrylic, there was no doubt in her mind she had found her medium. It was love at first stroke of the paintbrush.
Jo’s painting style is semi-abstract and contemporary abstract. She also has a qualification in abstraction from Artists University Network USA, having won many awards, held solo exhibitions, and shown her work around New Zealand.
Jo has sold her paintings throughout New Zealand and overseas. She paints commission works for valued clients and is now working as a full-time artist. Her husband, Rod, has his own framing business, so they are able to work together to provide the whole package for their customers.
