Carmen Jackson is an Australian artist who draws inspiration from the humour and the beauty of the Australian outback, beaches and landscapes.
Over the past few years Carmen has used visual arts in oils as a creative meditative therapy for self expression and to express herself through personal grief and loss.
Her artistic journey began when she experienced deep loss. The biggest influence in Carmen’s art is her family. She sadly has lost her immediate family members over the years and this is what inspired her to take up painting, using art as therapy.
In the next stage in her artistic life path she used her vision of when she raced BMX at a young age. She was the Australian Champion two years running at the age of 11 and 12. The magic and beauty of the Australian landscape and outback started then, and from travelling Australia.
Carmen loves the beauty and humour of the Australian outback and to be able to create a painting that shows the quirky nature of this, is just fantastic.
Carmen finds painting a delight for her soul as it’s a way for her to escape and express her feelings and thoughts. She paints as she feels. She paints as she goes. Carmen loves bringing the quirkiness, magic and humour of our beautiful country to the canvas. She loves the land, nature and the elegant beauty of the history of this planet.
Carmen is currently enrolled in Charles Darwin University to complete her Graduate Diploma in Creative Therapies. She is enrolled at Torrens University also completing her Graduate Certificate in Counselling.
“I am so proud of myself for that Australian have a go attitude and persisting at expressing my creative self. I am proud of being able to have an outlet to express myself through painting and use this as therapy to meditate on. I find peace in painting and this allows me to create a world on the canvas that I can envelope in completely.”
