Spirit Heron

The Spirit Heron stands before a starry sky, feathers of magenta, pink, purple and turquoise.
Herons are amazing hunters and will wait patiently for long stretches of time for their prey to come to them. Part of my childhood was spent living on the banks of the Tweed River and it would always fascinate me to watch them slowly walk the shallows, or standing with their wings held out waiting for the fish to come in close for the shade.
These elegant birds hold symbolic meaning in many cultures going back as far as Egyptian times. They are often associated with the sun, and thought to represent wisdom and patience. I certainly can imagine them as being wise creatures who see much as they patiently await their prey.
