After lots of experimenting and patience, I developed this peice obviously inspired by the beautiful Boganvillea. I set to work. I utilised the actual petals from the flower and incorporated the dried petals crushed up and made into collage. Firstly I needed to pluck some delicate petals from the tree and wait for them to dry. I needed to see if they would keep the colour. I was very excited to find that they did indeed keep their gorgeous warm red tones. Only then could I set to work with the underlay of the petals with glazes with lots of thought as I layed down the layers of paint that would enhance the actual colour of the original petals.
In most of my works, I utilise the plant itself by adding actual peices of it in my works.
