Description
Colour In Your Life DVD Set 34 – Mixed Media
Disc 1
Carolyn Henry
Carolyn began studying art in 2007 and discovered that she has a talent for portrait painting. She was surprised and delighted to be chosen to exhibit in the 2008 Victorian Salon des Refuses with her first portrait. She has since been selected each year, and twice her portraits have also been selected in the Best of Hidden Faces of the Archibald Exhibitions. Carolyn has also won the prestigious Six Degrees Art Prize (Walker St Prize) in 2008. Carolyn has also been shortlisted in the prestigious Doug Moran Portrait Prize 2012 with her portrait of Dr. Tony Hanning.
Jo Frederiks
Jo Frederiks is a passionate animal rights advocate, speaking through her art to create awareness of animal cruelty. She is a fulltime practicing Wildlife artist, currently working towards her next major exhibition, exposing the well-hidden plight of helpless ‘livestock’ animals. Working in varying mediums, Jo favours graphite and oil paint. Her drawings are sensitive, exquisite and beautifully detailed, showing a rare glimpse of the depth and character to each individual animal.
Disc 2
Mealie Batchelor Ep3
Amelia’s interests are in music inspired expression – shapes and colour of light, bazaar collections, patterns and textures in nature, and the revival of old or unusual things. She is a multi-platform artist with skills based in the mediums of paint, paper, recycling and wire and metal based sculpture, organic sculpture, photography and community art projects. In this episode, Mealie uses chalk to create an incredible 3D piece for Foxtel’s ‘The Walking Dead’.
Peter Coad
Peter is a confident, energetic artist who uses vibrant colours for his vigorous interpretations. They capture the glowing earthy yellows and oranges of the land and mountains, the ephemeral purples, aqua and blues of the sky and lagoons and they reflect the uniqueness of the terrain, the changes of the day and seasons and one can feel he has connections and awareness of the indigenous myths and legends of the land.
