Mixed Media Portrait Techniques with Graeme Stevenson – Part 2

Born June 29th, 1958 in New South Wales, Australia, Graeme Stevenson began painting and studying animals and even at a young age had a tremendous fascination with the world around him. Graeme’s thirst for knowledge and adventure has driven his passions all his life. He has a firm belief that we are not outside the evolutionary process, and this belief comes from a solid practical foundation of studying, drawing, sketching and painting, and living amongst wildlife and in nature on several different continents throughout his adult life.
Graeme Stevenson is probably best known for creating the award-winning TV show, “Colour in Your Life,” which chronicles the techniques and personalities of artists from around the globe to promote creativity and a love of art. The show premiered in 2010, and as of 2020, it is in its 21st season.
In creating the mixed media portrait of Eric Rhoads, Graeme says:
“I wanted to represent the prolific achievements and evolution of Eric Rhoads in this image.
He has been an essential figure for so many artists in furthering their careers over the years, through not only his art marketing boot camp DVDs and courses, but hosting conventions, publishing arts magazines and of course his own Paint by Note tutorial courses.
He’s an extremely talented, generous and driven man, and I wanted to honour him by putting my own interpretation on his portrait.
He’s one of the most painted people in the world, so I hope he enjoys this painting – it’s not subtle! I hope you enjoy Part 2 of this multi-media tutorial too.
Here at Colour In Your Life we are really excited to be working in partnership with Eric to help bring you industry expert information on how to grow your arts career.”
