Not a lot still trying to produce a great painting

Producing a great painting you write about – it seems to me that a great painting is one that brings you joy, that YOU like, and not so much about what others think. Yet of course, I feel “down” when no one smiles at seeing a new piece I’ve made. We are social creatures after all, and like others liking us and our work.
